Margaret Patton is a partner in Bradley Murchison’s Baton Rouge office.  For over 10 years, she has focused her practice in the areas of oil, gas and energy law.  Margaret represents major and independent oil companies in title examination, division order work, and litigation, and she routinely advises clients in all aspects of oil and gas exploration and production operations, including matters related to lease disputes, mineral owner demands, operating agreement disputes, title issues, and risk-fee issues.  Margaret also has experience in the field of environmental regulatory law, having represented clients before the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) in permitting and compliance matters in the areas of air, water and waste.

Margaret was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA.  She completed her undergraduate degree at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, where she received a B.A. Degree, cum laude, in Corporate Communications.  She received her Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctorate degrees in 2006 from LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center.  Margaret is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana, including the United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Association of Professional Landmen, the Professional Landman’s Association of New Orleans, the Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen, the Houston Association of Professional Landmen, the Women’s Energy Network, the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association, and the Louisiana Chemical Association.
