John Reeks' practice includes energy, oil & gas, and public utility law, corporate, commercial lending & real estate law, commercial and casualty litigation, and oil & gas title examination, transactions and litigation.

Mr. Reeks is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Texas. He enjoys a broad based commercial law practice. His variety of skills equip him to handle a wide range of legal issues for his clients, including oil and gas, real estate, corporate formations/mergers/dissolutions, and commercial lending and financing arrangements. He has significant experience in handling Louisiana mineral interest issues ranging from acquisitions, title examinations, division orders, and operating agreements to Louisiana Office of Conservation ("LOC") work involving oil and gas and lignite regulation and intrastate pipeline matters.

He has extensive experience in title examination in virtually all North Louisiana parishes on behalf of major companies and independent producers. Mr. Reeks has rendered several hundred title opinions in most of the major oil and gas fields in North Louisiana, including drill site title opinions, preliminary title opinions and division order title opinions. In addition, he has litigated a number of oil and gas cases including matters involving gas contracts, oil, gas and mineral leases, mineral royalty demands, development of oil and gas leases and title issues.

Mr. Reeks is an active member and previously served as the education director of the Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas Association of Professional Landmen. His responsibilities as education director included coordinating educational activities and assisting the landmen in obtaining "CPL" credit in order to maintain their certifications. He coordinated the association's annual seminar, which provided CPL credits for landmen and was certified for Continuing Legal Education Credit by the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Reeks continues to be a regular speaker for the association's educational activities.

In addition to his oil and gas related activities, Mr. Reeks has significant insurance defense, banking, real estate and commercial litigation experience. He also currently serves as Chancellor of St. Mark's Cathedral (Episcopal) in Shreveport, La.
