Firm Partner to Speak on Oil & Gas Mineral Title Examination

Firm partner, Margaret G. Patton, has been invited to speak at the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Special Institute on Oil & Gas Mineral Title Examination.  The joint conference of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation will be held September 25-27, 2019 in Westminster, Colorado. 

Margaret will lead a session entitled “Lease Issues to Consider for Title Examination” which will include discussion of primary terms, leases that are held by production, Pugh clauses (both vertical and horizontal), depth limitations, entireties clause, pooling provisions and limitations, addendums with special provisions including surface restrictions, drilling obligations, and continuous operations.  She will also discuss executive rights (particularly when severed from mineral rights), an overview of delay rentals and shut-in provisions, and deduction of post-production costs.
